The Pendergraph Women’s Ministry came into existence due to the need for
fellowship and sharing of common experiences and concerns among wives of seminary students. The widow of former Southern Seminary student Dr. G.R. Pendergraph gave an endowment in 1984 to meet what she remembered, during her years as a Southern Seminary student’s wife, to be a pressing need. As a result of her initiative, in April 1985 a combination Bible study and support group formed and met with great success. This offered a model for the original seminary wives fellowship. In 1995 the focus was changed to include wives and female students to be a part of this ministry. As God has continued to bless The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, the ministry has branched out to include all women who are a part of the seminary community. Thus, we are honored to bear the name Pendergraph Women’s Ministry.
